Prescott Poetry Meetup at The Cove
Wednesday, May 27 • 6:30 PM
Join the Prescott poetry community this month for a special educational workshop focused on one of the most important — and most overlooked — performance skills: using the microphone effectively.
Whether you’re brand new to reading your work aloud or a seasoned performer looking to sharpen your delivery, this interactive session with Dan Seaman will help you speak with more confidence, clarity, and impact.
No RSVP or fee is required to attend — just come as you are and bring something familiar to read aloud.
⭐ See you there!
Special Workshop: Microphone & PA Skills with Dan Seaman
Dan Seaman has been working behind a microphone since his radio days began in 1983. In this hands-on workshop, he’ll share practical techniques for using microphones and PA systems effectively in live performance settings.
Participants will have the opportunity to read a piece of their own work and receive constructive feedback, along with tips for improving vocal delivery, microphone technique, and audience connection.
If you’ve ever felt nervous speaking into a mic, struggled to project confidently, or worried your delivery wasn’t doing your words justice, this workshop is for you.
What You’ll Learn
- Better microphone technique
- How to avoid common mic mistakes
- Tips for clearer, stronger live readings
- Building confidence with amplified speaking
- Improving stage presence and vocal delivery
Dan’s background also includes voice acting, emceeing/hosting, improv readings, and performing original written works since 1997 — giving him decades of real-world experience with live audio and public performance.
Bring a short piece you know well and come ready to learn!
